Saturday 1 September was the third Clapham Old Town Fair Centre situated just around the corner from Clapham North Art Centre, and this year it was bigger and better than ever. It featured over 50 stalls, sports activities, the London Fire Brigade, food and drink from local Clapham businesses, craft stalls, community groups, live music, fun fair rides and animals from Vauxhall City Farm.
The Fair was started 3 years ago after the London Fire Brigade approached This is Clapham BID seeking to organise a public event to help celebrate 100 years of the London Fire Brigade and recognise the support given by members of the local Clapham community in their successful campaign to prevent the closure of the station. It has gone from strength to strength since then and remains a community powered event celebrating everything that we love about Clapham, its people and its local businesses.
It’s estimated that 3,000 people attended the event throughout the day with many organisations and businesses using the opportunity to raise money for charity and promote good causes.
