Starlight Children’s Foundation are national children’s charity dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families. They have been based at the Needspace? Hammersmith office for over 5 years now carrying out their fantastic work.
The team at Starlight and guests had a truly ‘oar’ inspiring evening at the Blenheim Palace by Starlight ball. To celebrate Team Oar Inspiring crossing the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge finish line in an impressive 35 days, 8 hours and 5 minutes, Starlight held the ‘Blenheim By Starlight’ ball, hosted by His Grace The Duke of Marlborough, James Spencer-Churchill at his spectacular home in Blenheim Palace.
The team had already raised an incredible amount while on the water, but the fundraising to help fund a year’s worth of Starlight wishes did not stop there! Throughout the evening guests had the chance to bid on some phenomenal auction prizes, including an oil portrait commission by renowned artist Phoebe Dickinson and a new generation customised Moke car. The live auction on the night was hosted by Sotheby’s UK Chairman, Harry Dalmeny.
Rory Bremner kept the guests entertained as master of ceremonies and the evening concluded with an intimate acoustic performance from 2018’s biggest-selling debut artist Anne-Marie.
14-year-old Felix, who had his wish to go to Monaco granted last year, joined the team as Starlight’s guest of honour. After spending nine months in hospital he is now back competing in sporting events and is a world-record holding rower himself! Felix knows more than most about overcoming adversity and was the perfect person to present the team with their Starlight Outstanding Achievement Awards.
A well done to the amazing supporters and development committee who organised auction prizes and donated so generously. The ball raised a massive £835,000 for Starlight – making it the most successful Starlight fundraising event ever!
