As a sole trader working with often very valuable electronic equipment, Piks founder Mark Calvert was looking for a very particular type of environment to work in. Mark needed the right kind of space and hardware for his and his clients’ equipment; as well as good security, some privacy, flexibility, and a price that wouldn’t break the bank.
Luckily, Needspace had just opened its first shared office space at the Earlsfield Business Centre, near Wimbledon, south London. In fact, Piks was so quick off the mark that renovation work on the building was still ongoing when Mark moved his equipment in!

Needspace proved to be exactly what Mark and his business needed. He could fit work benches, extra plug sockets and security cameras to make the space very much his own. But at the same time, he was able to benefit from the shared facilities on site at Earlsfield, including a reception service to take deliveries when he is away from the office. Crucially, Mark was able to rent the space quickly and at a price he could afford.

“The building itself is nice and well maintained – Needspace take care of it. My clients either visit or have equipment delivered to me for repair or service, so the location is good; it’s easy to reach on public transport.
“As a small business I have to watch my overheads, but I would say the pricing here is good value and it’s changed very little over the years. It’s not unusual for people to settle here like me; quite a few of my neighbours are fairly long-standing too. It seems to suit many of us well.”
