Our Clapham North Arts Centre is a great place to work. A unique building with lots of character, it offers a range of affordable, office, workshop and studio space, conveniently located close to the High Street as well as Clapham North and Clapham High stations.
It is a vibrant and active building, with a wide range of clients and businesses located there.
In 2023, we made several improvements to the site, and occupancy as a result increased to over 90%. The external areas were improved, with works undertaken to create a ‘village experience’ to offer clients a defined meeting area with external seating and planting. Additional cycle racks have been provided, and pedestrian safety has also been improved with the installation of a barrier system to reduce the movement of traffic.
As units become available there will be a rolling refurbishment programme to improve the customer experience and ensure we future proof our buildings, (our long-term investment).
The investment has also provided our clients with increased confidence in our Clapham location, and they have been keen for us to help support their changing needs as their businesses mature.
One example of this is Oliver’s Travels, a luxury travel and villa holiday specialist, whose business has expanded significantly since lockdown. Having occupied three units at Clapham North Arts Centre since 2013, this year they signed a new lease to increase their occupation to nine units, to enable them to accommodate up to 100 staff. Needspace worked closely with the co-founders to create a new, bright, open plan space by incorporating new lightwells, new flooring and removing walls to enable an improved, more collaborative work environment.
