HEX gets new Clapham HQ into shape

After two years of building their highly successful personal training and fitness business HEX, Phil Wilkins and Chris Timmins have made Clapham North Art Centre their new headquarters, opening their first location at Needspace? on 1 December.

Phil and Chris’s clients can choose to make personal training more affordable by training in small, mixed ability groups accommodating up to four people. Eight classes a day are offered, focusing on practical, very hands on fitness that really achieves members’ objectives. But opportunities to work out aren’t just limited to the gym – HEX’s free-spirited approach to getting in your fitness fix includes running HIIT classes last summer for customers of corporate client John Lewis on the roof of their flagship Oxford Street store, and running a Monday night class in nearby nightclub The Two Brewers, where you can work out your weekend excesses in one of three 45 minute HIIT sessions under disco lights with a banging sound system!

Having heard about the space becoming available from Needspace’s centre manager Coral, Clapham locals Phil and Chris have renovated extensively, knocking down a wall to create changing rooms and an extended and refitted kitchen. “Coral has been really supportive throughout,” Chris explains. “Both Phil and I have built our fitness lives in the community round here, so when the opportunity came up to take the space and make it our own, it was a great chance to put down roots. We’ll still be running classes in other locations too – John Lewis customers will soon be able to join us to exercise at the Westfield Stratford City viewing gallery, overlooking the Olympic Park for inspiration!”
