Reach Health & Performance moves into Clapham North Art Centre

We’re delighted to welcome new customers Reach Health & Performance to our Clapham North Art Centre, with their first gym – Reach Fitness London – opening quite literally with a bang with fireworks on Guy Fawkes night, Saturday 5th November.

Reach – a personal training, group fitness and sports conditioning provider which also organises fitness holidays – had been taking advantage of the glorious local outdoor environment of Clapham Common over the spring and summer.  But with autumn approaching, finding a suitable permanent base became a priority for founding member and lead trainer of the Reach team, renowned industry professional Richard Tidmarsh.

“The location was what first attracted us to Clapham North Art Centre,” Richard said.  “Clapham is a really vibrant community, and the centre is just a stone’s throw from the High Street and on the Northern Line – the city’s busiest.  But it’s quite tricky to find decent-sized space in such a central spot.  Needspace? could not only offer us that, but they’re really flexible too.  You’re not tied in to a long contract and it’s really straightforward to set up; plus they’re been very accommodating about the changes we’ve made to the space to make it perfect for our business.”

The two-floor unit had previously been used as a Pilates studio, so modifications made by Reach included the removal of a wall of mirrors to expose brickwork, ready for the addition of rigging and and new equipment.  Pre-existing shower room facilities upstairs have been extended, and the space has been comprehensively redecorated in Reach’s style, completed with new rubber floors throughout.  “We’ve really been able to put our stamp on the space and tailor it into a great environment for our customers,” said Richard.  “Coral, the centre manager, in particular has been so supportive.  The response on our opening night was fantastic – our customers are really looking forward to using the new facilities and I’m confident that we’ve found a great home for our first gym.”

Richard – who has a national and international client base including Olympic athletes, sports teams and celebrities – will be joined at the centre by colleagues Sarah Franks, Sarah Bowen and Zara Hannaford.  Between them, they’ll offer not just personal training but fun and effective group fitness classes to members, including action-packed cardio workout Fuel, resistance based workout Rebel Fit, Weekend Warrior – an all in one full body blast if your week’s been too busy for training – and Pop Yoga, with all the benefits you’d normally expect but accompanied by the music of Lady Gaga, among others!

Reach joins a number of businesses in the health and fitness industry based at Clapham North Art Centre, including In2Crossfit and Hot Power Yoga.  We’re pleased that the centre is becoming such a popular location for those helping the local community and beyond stay fit, healthy and peaceful in body and mind.
